TAGs are also considered one of the most abundant type of lipid, but they are not components of biological membranes. Why could be the reason why they cannot?
Please explain in simple words thank you
As TAGs are the one of most abundant type of lipid but they are not components of biological membranes .
Explantation:-
In Lipids that form bilayers are amphipathic, means having both hydrophilic and hydrobhic parts(polar and non polar parts). It is composed of two fat cells organized in two sheets and insoluble in water and its region is almost covered with hydrocarbon.
They have a polar headgroup and nonpolar acyl chains.
Where as TAGs (Triacylglycerols) lack
a polar
headgroup and they cannot orient themselves to
form a bilayer.
TAGs(triglycerides )have glycerol and three fatty acids. It serve several functions in the body and maintain the structure of cell membranes by forming a lipid bilayer
