37. The Calvin cycle is generally most crucial in which type of organism?
a. Chemoorganotrophs b. Photoautotrophs c. Photoorganotrophs d. Chemoheterotrophs e. All of the above
Photoautotrophs
Calvin cycle is the process which results in the formation of sugars using ATP and NADPH synthesized during light dependent reaction. It will take place in all the photoautotrophs. Photoautotrophs are the organism which can undergo photosynthesis in the presence of sunlight. These organisms use an inorganic source of carbon like carbon dioxide to synthesise organic sugars.
Chemoorganotrophs do not require sunlight and therefore cannot used Calvin cycle because it is depends upon the product of light reaction.
Photoorganotrophs use sugars directly in the presence of Sunlight so they do not need Calvin cycle to prepare sugar.
Chemoheterotroph can not undergo photosynthesis so Calvin cycle will not occur.
