what is the role of Dnase when performing transformation?

what is the role of Dnase when performing transformation?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Dnase should not be found during transformation. Because this process is sensistive to the Dnase whereas conjugation and transduction is resistant to Dnase.

The transformation is resistant to the Dnase because the DNA is found outside the cell which is used in transfotmation. And the Dnase will act on the DNA. This leads to digestion of DNA. And reduces the rate of transformation.

But in conjugation and transduction, the DNA is not found in naked form outside the cell. That's why these processes are resistant.
