Describe four specific changes initiated by injured endothelium through the release of substances and the effect of those substances on coagulation.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

There are twol levels of response that initiates after injury of endothelium. The initial rapid response involves chaninges in levels of nitric oxide, prostaglandins, ET-1, von willebrand factor and tissue plasmogen activator. The slower response depends on fundamental changes in cell surface characteristics, and alterations in the underlying basement membrane and the smooth muscle cellsthat surrounds the endothelium. These changes are brought about by molecules that are particularly potent growth factors involved in the deposition of ECM, and activation and proliferation of the vSMCs, pericytes and other mesenchymal cell types associated with the blood vessel wall. This ultimately results in vessel remodelling, with profound changes in cellular architecture.

part a: Colligative properties are only incidentally affected by chemical properties of substances. The most important point is that colligative properties are dependent on the number of free solute particles in solution, not the specific nature of those particles. When dissolving substances, it is important to understand how many particles are released by that substance. One mole of sodium chloride produces two moles of dissolved particles:one mole of Na+(aq) and one mole of Cl-(aq), while one mole of sucrose produces...

agree or disagree 75+ words Fiscal policy affects aggregate demand through changes in government spending and taxation. When the government decides on the goods and services it purchases, the transfer payments it distributes, or the taxes it collects, it is engaging in fiscal policy. The primary economic impact of any change in the government budget is felt by particular groups—a tax cut for families with children, for example, raises their disposable income. Discussions of fiscal policy, however, generally focus on...
