Explain the structure of DNA, Make sure to include the names and components of it's monomer and how the monomers are organized. Explain the overall structure of the polymer DNA

Homework Answers

Answer #1

DNA is comprises of the monomer know as a nucleotides. The nucleotide is the structure with phosphate group, a sugar group and a nitrogen base i.e adenine (A), thymine (T), guanine (G) and cytosine (C).

Nucleotides are bound together to generate two long strands that spiral, this structure called as double helix. In the double helix structure,t he phosphate and sugar molecules are at the sides, and bases are at the centre. The bases on one strand are bond to the bases on another strand by hydrogen bond. In the base pair binding, adenine is paired with thymine and guanine is paired with cytosine.
