Why was the Theory of Uniformity crucial to Darwin/Wallace’s theory of natural selection?
Theory of Uniformity was given by Englisg Geologist Sir Charles Lyell in 19th century. Theory of Uniformity mean that there is Uniformity in events and conditions taking place in present and in past. The all the organisms have faced the same conditions. Charles Darwin was influenced by Lyell and in 1859 they introduced the concept of Natural selection. They vusited Galapagoes island and studied. They said that only organism survive which best adapt themselves(Survival of fittest).
