How is cirrhosis and fatty liver related?
There are two kinds of fatty liver :
Simple fatty liver:
Normally liver contain some fat by itself and it causes no
symptoms, little or no inflammation or no liver cell damage.
Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH):
Excess fat can cause inflammation called as steatohepatitis and
Steatohepatitis can lead to cirrhosis. Cirrhosis is defined as
fibrosis, scarring and hardening of the liver.
Once cirrhosis has developed then liver can not recover. Cirrhosis
greatly increases risk of liver cancer.
NAFLD is a type of fatty liver disease that is not related to heavy
