Describe two benefits and two disadvantages of phytoremediation.
Benefits-
1). These are the technologies which uses plants and natural resources to clean air, water and soil. There will be use of plant and natural resources so it is cost effective as compared to other conventional ways of remediation.
2). This remediation technology is suited to remediation of large area soil. It is easy to implement and maintain. Moreover, it is accepted by public.
Disadvantages-
1). This remediation takes several years to remediate a site of contamination as it is slower process as compared to conventional ways of remediation.
2). This remediation is not as effective for the sites with high concentration of contamination. And even the contamination may reach ground water.
