d) increased levels of GnRH

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Synthesis of sex hormones occurs form a common precursor pathway of cholesterol and therefore low levels of cholesterol is associated with decrease in the synthesis of these hormones.

Since the synthesis and inhibition is regulated by a negative feedback mechanism therefore, this results in increased activity of GnRH to release to produce more FSH from anterior pituitary resulting in their increased levels.

Therefore, option all of these is the correct answer.

High levels of cholesterol in the blood are associated with higher risk of heart attacks. Will using a drug to lower blood cholesterol reduce heart attacks? The Helsinki Heart Study looked at this question. Middle-aged men were assigned at random to one of two treatments: 2051 men took the drug gemfibrozil to reduce their blood cholesterol levels, and a control group of 2030 men took a placebo. During the next five years, 65 men in the gemfibrozil group and 84...

Q1-Q7. One type of cholesterol is called low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL, also called the “bad” cholesterol). Adults should check their cholesterol levels at least every 5 years. The lower the LDL cholesterol is, the healthier the person is. Suppose the LDL cholesterol scores in men follow a normal distribution N(µ = 140, σ = 32). 1. If an LDL level below 160 is considered as acceptable, what percent of men have an acceptable cholesterol level? Note the answer field below...
