Homework Answers

Answer #1

Extremophiles are the organism which grow at extreme conditions like high temperature, low temperature, acidic pH, basic pH, etc.

Organism which grow at high temperature ( above 45 C) called as thermophile. Organism which grow at low temperature ( below 20 C) called as psychrophile.

The organism grow at acidic pH called as acidophiles and the organism which grow at alkaline pH called as alkalophiles.

Human normal body temperature is 37C and pH of body fluid is 7.2 to 7.4 I.e nearly neutral slightly alkaline. Pathogens cause disease to humans by multiplying in body. They require 37C temperature and pH of about 7.2 to grow and multiply in host body. Extremophiles does not grow at this temperature and pH. So extremophiles are not pathogenic to human.
