What is the relationship between RNA polymerase, promoter, general transcription factors (or sigma factors), specific transcription factors (activators and repressors)and mediators (coactivators and corepressors)
All of all these are required in Transcription process. The conversion of DNA to RNA is called transcription. RNA polymerase is the main enzyme which is responsible for the conversion of DNA template strand into RNA.
Promoters: RNA polymerase binds with promoters yo intiate the process of transcription.
Sigma Factor: Helps in the binding of promotor to RNA polymerase
Activator: As the name suggest, it increase the rate of transcription
Repressor: Decrease the rate of transcription
Coactivator: to increase the rate of activator it binds with activator. And result in increase of transcription process.
Corepressor: binds with repressor to increase the activity of repressor
