the nasal swabs are collected for the diagnosis of whooping cough, diphtheria, influenza and various diseases caused by coronavirus family of viruses like as COVID-19, SARS,MERS etc.

what are they ( lab ) looking for in the sample from the nasal swab = In lab looking for in sample any virus is present.like as COVID-19

the individuals who are midly symptomatic and in the early stages of infections ,they have very high concentrations of the virus in their nasal secretions.

this test allows doctors to collect samples of secretions from uppermost part of the throat, behind nose.
