Liz has heart murmur. What is the passage of blood in her heart and the systemic and pulmonary circuit?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

If Liz has abnormal heart murmurs, she may have abnormal valve conditions. The blood may flow through the normal mitral valve but in a turbulent manner that may cause the murmur. There are many different types of heart murmurs like systolic or pulmonary heart murmurs.

The systemic circuit is when the heart provides oxygenated blood to the rest of the body. In case of heart murmurs the valves allow rapid blood flow leading to higher systemic circulation. Pulmonary cirucit is when the blood flows into the heart which is much slower in case of heart murmurs

A heart murmur is the audible noise generated when blood is allowed to flow through a heart valve when it shouldn’t. Based on your knowledge of the cardiac cycle, which valve(s) would you predict to cause a murmur during diastole, and which valve(s) would you predict to cause a murmur during systole? Be sure to explain your answer.

if a person has a heart murmur caused by the improper opening and closing of a heart valve, the ecg or heart sound (choose one) will be unusual as the blood is forced through a more narrow opening (stenotic valve) or the blood backflows because the valve does not close properly (incomplete valve) explain your reasoning

The heart chamber that pumps oxygenated blood to the systemic circuit is the Group of answer choices a. right ventricle. b. left ventricle. c. left atrium. d. right atrium. e. more than one of these is correct I am confused on this one. I know that the left side of the heart (left atrium and ventricle) pumps oxygenated blood throughout the body but not sure if its both or if its just the left ventricle. Any help would be great!!!

1) Pulmonary arterioles respond to different factors than systemic arterioles because in the lungs, the blood supply is receiving oxygen and delivering carbon dioxide, while in the systemic circulation, it is delivering oxygen, and receiving carbon dioxide. In the pulmonary circuit, arterioles will dilate in well-ventilated areas of the lungs to increase the rate of exchange between capillaries and well-ventilated alveoli. However, in poorly ventilated areas of the lungs, arterioles will constrict in order to re-route blood to well-ventilated areas....
