Fill in the blanks with the appropriate terms and/or processes:

During photosynthesis, the chlorophyll molecules in the _________ are _________ when _________ molecules accept electrons.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

During photosynthesis, the chlorophyll molecules in the core complex are activated when light harvesting complex(LHC) molecules accept electrons.

Chlorophyll of the thylakoid membrane absorbes photon particles. Chlorophyll become active when LHC molecules accept electrons. LHC molecules harvest light energy and transfer it to photoosystem I and II. They are responsible for transferring electron from water to NADP+. Different wavelengths lights are observed through two photosystem. The reaction centre of PS I is P700 and The reaction centre of PS II is P680.

Fill in the blank. ___1___ of light energy strike the surface of leaves. They excite the electrons in ___2___ molecules found in the chloroplast of plant cells. These molecules are embedded in the ___3___ membrane of the chloroplast. The electrons are so excited that they leave the chlorophyll molecule and are passed down a chain of molecules called a(n) ___4___ . This process leads to the formation of two high energy molecules called ___5___ and ___6___. Both of these molecules...
