When two species interact such that one benefits but the other is negatively impacted is a kind of NEGATIVE INTERACTION.

In negative interaction , usually one partner harms the other for deriving benefits for their own survival. There are around 6 types of negative interactions.

1. PARASITISM - Those deriving nutrition from the body of their hosts are reffered to as parasites. They develop nutritional relationship with the host. Parasites may be obligate or facultative type. Obligate parasitism is shown by all viruses , viroids, prions,mycoplasma .

2. PREDATION - Those feeding over their live prey . It includes herbivores and carnivores .

3. Amensalism - It is somewhat related to antagonism where the growth of one organism is inhibited by secreting some chemical substances by other organismsin the environment. example - Tagetus inhibiting growth of nematodes or worms in soil.
