Draw a cell that is 2n = 4, after DNA replication before mitosis. The cell is heterozygous for the D gene, and homozygous recessive for the E gene. If there is more than one possibility, draw all.

Answer #1

Given 2n = 4, it means that cell has 4 chromosomes. DNA is replicated during the S-phase. So after the S-phase chromosome number is doubled. So, the cell has 8 chromosomes DNA replication before mitosis.

Heterozygous means one dominant allele and one recessive allele. There could be two case-

1 - When gene D and gene E are present on the different chromosomes.

2- When gene D and gene E are present on the same chromosomes.
