What is chemiosmosis and proton motive force? How are they different?

What is chemiosmosis and proton motive force? How are they different?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Chemiosmosis is formation of atp via atp synthase in electron transport chain while proton motive force is transport of proton across the membrane via pumps to provide proton which can be utilized by atp synthase these proton are transported on gibbs energy to prton pump .

Chemiosmosis is basically the formation of atp while proton motive force help in transportng proton across the membrane though both are part of electron trasnport chain and help in atp synthesis but they have slightest difference .
