The composition of the inner mitochondrial membrane is most like that of

A. the outer mitochondrial membrane C. some bacterial membranes B. the cell’s plasma membrane D. the nuclear membrane

Homework Answers

Answer #1

According to the endosymbiotictheory , evolution of eukaryotic cell is from prokaryotic one. That means eukaryotic cells evolved through the symbiosis of prokaryotic cells like bacteria. It states that the eukaryotic organelle mitochondria is shows phylogenetic relevance with the Rickettseales proteobacteria . The transport proteins like porins are found in the outer membrane of the mitochondria and bacteria while the transport proteins cardiolipin found in inner membrane of mitochondria and bacteria. So this much relevance is enough to answer this question.

So the correct option is option - C - some bacterial membrane
