How does fever contribute to non-specific defense?
Fever is one of the bodies nonspecific response in which the host body increases its temperature. They are generally caused by pathogen like bacteria etc which produces some substance that are called pyrogens. Pyrogens affect the hypothalamus of the brain that causes an increase in body temperature. The increase in temperature slows or stops the growth of temperature-sensitive microbes, it speeds up the repair process of the body and it also increases the body metabolism which causes the immune response and also the process of phagocytosis. It is said nonspecific because the response will be generated by the pyrogens and it won't depend from which microorganism it is generated.
