Design an experiment about how Lima beans soaked in water changed in mass and volume
Questions posed include: Do beans get larger when soaked? Do beans get heavier (weigh more) when soaked?
Your Hypothesis:
Your Experimental Design: Write each step of your activities in a short precise way.
Identify:
The independent variables:
The dependent variable:
Control variables
Hypothesis: if lima beans are soaked in water, will the entry of water into the beans causes an increase in size and increase in weight.
Experimental Design:
Take some same sized lima beans and divide them into three groups.
Each group will have the same number of beans (say 10)
Now measure the initial size of beans and weight of the beans.
Take two beakers and label them as beaker A and Beaker B
In beaker A no water is added and in beaker B some amount of water (say 100 ml)
Put 10 seeds each in beaker A and B
Keep the experiment for 30 min and record the observations after 3 min for each beaker.

In beaker A there will be no change in the size or weight of the beans.
However there will be change in both size and weight of the beans.
The increase in the size and weight of the beans indicate the they abosrb water when soaked.
In this experiment, The independent variable is presence and absence of water
The dependent variable is The change in size and weight (As they change with respect to presence or absence of water)
Control variables: Equal number and equal size of seeds in each beaker.
