Answer:- Plasmids are extrachromosomal cicular DNA present in the bacterial cells. There are different types of plasmids in the bacterial cell :-

  • Fertility plasmid :- Also reffered to as F-plasmid. This plasmid helps in formation of sex pili and thus helps in conjugation between the bacterial cells
  • Resistance plasmids:- These are plasmids which contain genes which provide resistance to various antibiotics to the bacterial cell.
  • Col plasmids:- These are plasmids which contain genes for various proteins or toxins which can kill other organisms.
  • Degradative plasmids:- These are plasmids which contain gene that enable a bacterial cell for the digestion of specific substances, for example, toluene and salicylic acid.
  • Virulence plasmids :- These are plasmids which turn a bacterium into a pathogen.
