1. ATP production during glycolysis;

a. requires an enzyme

b. occurs in the cytosol

c. occurs via substrate-level phosphorylation

d. all of the above

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer: all of the above

Glycolysis occurs in cytosol. THe first substrate level phosphorylation occurs after the conversion of 3 phosphoglyceraldehyde and Pi and NAD+ to 1,3 bisphosphoglycerate with the help of enzyme Glyceraldehyde phosphate dehydrogenase. 1,3 bisphosphoglycerate is then dephosphorylated with the help of phosphoglycerate kinase producing 3 phosphoglycerate and ATP. Therefore all of the options are correct regarding ATP production in glycolysis.
