Give one application of Ion Exchange Chromatography to our daily life with explanation

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans :-) ion exchange Chromatography is used for drinking water analysis for pollution and other constituents. So it is widely used for water purification.

Principle :- Exchange of ions is the basic principle in ion exchange chromatography. Cationic or anionic exchangers can be used in this type of Chromatography.

Complete deionization of water or a non electrolyte solution is performed by exchanging solute cations for hydrogen ions and solute anions for hydroxyl ions. This is usually achieved by the method used for softening of drinking water.

2. Some common types of chromatography include adsorption (which is typical in TLC), ion-exchange (where ions are attached to the stationary phase and interact with oppositely-charged ions in the mobile phase), molecular exclusion (where larger molecules are not able to enter the pores in the stationary phase), and affinity (which employs specific interactions between solute in the mobile phase and molecules attached to the stationary phase). Which type of chromatography would be best suited to a separation of the following:...

Give an example of a real life application of one of the three learning theories. Be specific in your example, identifying all the components of the example. For example, if you select an example of operant conditioning, tell us if it is positive/negative or reinforcement/punishment and explain why. You may use personal examples if you wish or you may select an example from a movie or television show.
