bottleneck effect is major decerase in the quantity of a population which is caused due to environmental disaters like famines, earthquakes, volcano eruptions,floods, fires, disease, and droughts or human activities such as genocide and human population planning. It cause reduction ins the variation in the gene pool of a population so, a smaller population, with a smaller genetic diversity,pass on genes to next generations of offspring through sexual reproduction. Genetic diversity is low and increase only when gene flow from another population occurs or very slowly increasing with time as random mutations.
