Answer #1

Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) is a potentially serious disorder. It is also digestive disorder, which affects the lower esophageal sphincter, the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach. It is a long-term condition where the materials of stomach come back up into the esophagus and result in serious complications. It is a painful and potentially serious condition. It damages the lining of the esophagus after long-term exposure to the acid and digestive enzymes of the stomach. Normal cells are replaced with abnormal cells in the esophagus which result in esophageal cancer. GERD can result in serious complications without treatment.
