Auditory exostosis is an example of non metric trait . It is a lump of bone which grows inside the auditory canal or ear canal.It is an example of subcategory hyperostotic trait i.e over ossification trait. Non metric traits are nothing but anomalies in normal anatomy of skeleton.

Aims of scoring non metric traits

1.to supply information about variation in non metric traits in relation to sex and age.

2. To evaluate the biological distance between different samples.
