Describe the histology of the liver making reference to the classic hepatic lobule.

The classic hepatic lobule

The classic hepatic lobule has a hexagonal structure. The center of this lobule is made up of a terminal hepatic venue. The angles of the hexagon, the six angles, have portal tracks which, would be running through portal triads.

The rest part of the lobule contains anastomosing plates. Amidst this, there is presence of special structures, known as sinusoidal capillaries. The sinusoidal capillaries would be having the blood that exits through the portal vessels and the arterial vessels. The blood that would be exiting, would be in exiting via the terminal hepatic venue,. Bile would be running in the direction opposite to this. Bile passes via the bile canaliculi to the portal triad. This shows the organisation of the archetype of liver.
