Plants secreate some poisons or metabolites to defend themselves but they are not affacted by them. They can manage this by-

1. Poisons are only secreated when plant part are injured by the insect ir other organusm.

2. The poisons are present in inactive form and get activated on interaction with another part.

3. Or the plant can recycle the poison into its inactive form.

Herbivory increase the rate of photosynthesis generally due to imbalance in chemical composition of the plants and also the lesser no. Of leaves are present to synthesize the food.
