Which of the one of the following pairs of people has the exact same genome? a) father and son, b) mother and daughter, c) identical twins, d) fraternal twins, e) None of the above.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

c) Identical Twins

As Identical Twins have the exact same genome since each of the identical twin zygote comes from the same fertilised egg, that is one fertilised egg divides into two cells with the exact same DNA (genetic material), the division takes places after the male gamete (sperm) ferilizes the female gamete (egg). Fraternal twins on the other hand differnt genetic material because they come from different parent gametes, i.e. two sperm fertilizing two eggs. Hence they would not have the exact same genomes.
