Answer #1

Answer-

a.

neritic zone.

The neritic zone is part of horizontal zones which extends from the intertidal zone to depths of about 200 m at the edge of the continental shelf. The Neritic zone has the highest productivity because water in this zone is oxygen rich, low in pressure, and has optimum temperature that support life. Most of the river runoff from the land flow in this zone which provides nutrients for plankton. Most of the portion of the neritic zone's depths receive enough sunlight, so that algae, phytoplankton, and marine plants can carry out photosynthesis. Zooplankton, protists, small fishes, and shrimp are found in the neritic zone and are the base of the food chain for most of the world’s fisheries.
