Solution- Difference in gas exchange rate due to difference in light inetensity is the reason behind difference in stomatal density

When light intensity increases, the gas exchange rate also increases. Plants growing at different light intensity levels have different gas exchange rate. To adjust with different gas exchange rate at different light intensity levels, plants will have different stomatal density. This is the most probable biological reason behind the difference in stomata density between single species growing in different light levels

Other than light intensity, difference in atmospheric CO2 concentration and difference in water availability also affect stomatal density
