The stem cells have the ability to differentiate into specific cells. Stem cells are use to treat leukemia as these cells are replaced with leukemia cells which are present in the bone marrow. Therefore damaged cells are replaced with normal cells which produce normal blood.
It is done by first killing the cancer cells by chemotherapy and then stems cells are infused into the blood vein. The stem cells is used to restore normal bone marrow. The haematopoietic stem cell are used to treat leukemia.
