  1. What are aquaporins? Based on what you know about the permeability of cell membranes, why would cells have aquaporins in their membranes?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Since the plasma membrane is made up of lipid bilayer, it permits transport of gases & hydrophobic substances easily while hydrophilic substances (water) can't move through it. So Aquaporins are needed for this purpose.

Hope you'll understand the concept. Please like. Thankyou
