To determine the type of inhibitior we can take the help of the Lineweaver Burk double reciprocal plot. In case after ploting the values in the graph( Xaxis has substrate concentration and Y axis has reaction velocity) of both the substrate+enzyme and substrate+enzyme+inhibitior tubes if the Km value for the tube that has inhibitior added increases from the the value of the tube that has no inhibitor and the Vmax stays the same then it is a competative inhibitior. If the Km is unchanged but the Vmax is lowered for the tube containing the i hibitor then it is an non competative inhibitior. And in case the enzyme is becomes non functional after addition of the inhibitior and no data is obtained then it is a irreversible inhibitior.
