Answer #1

The mechanism by which the muscle becomes larger and stronger is-

1. Muscle tension-Muscle tension affects the connection between the motor units and muscle cells. It helps in activation of growth factors such as mTOR and satellites. Mucle tension can be induced by weightlifting.

2.Muscle damage- The muscle soreness after an workout which causes inflammatory cell activation and subsequently activation of satellites .

3. metabolic stress- another mechanism which is activated by the weightlifting ,causes the increasing in the glycogen in the muscle, which causes swelling around the muscle, it causes the increasing in the muscle size.

4.Hormones- testosterone, the predominant hormones in males, is the main hormone responsible for muscle growth , which also explain why there is an less muscle mass in the females as compared to males.
