Antibiotic resistance is described as the potential of bacteria to developed resistance against the specific antibiotic.

The .possible change in penicillin resistance can be as follows

1. The resistance can cause due to the degradation of antibacterial drugs by some enzyme produced by the bacteria.

2. The resistance can occur if there are alteration bacterial proteins which are the target of antimicrobial targets

3. If there is an alteration of membrane permeability of bacteria for specific antibiotics.

In penicillin, the resistance can occur  if the penicillin antibiotics are hydrolyzed by the bacterial enzyme beta-lactamase. Due to this, the expression of beta-lactamase can be increased or decreased after the introduction of beta-lactam drugs like penicillin.
