Homework Answers

Answer #1

Mass extinction may be defined as “any substantial increase in the amount of extinction (lineage termination) suffered by more than one geographically wide-spread higher taxon during a relatively short interval of geologic time, resulting in an at least temporary decline in their standing diversity. The two main causes of mass extinction are:

1. Climate change: For example extinction of dianosoures along with many species due to warm climate.

2. Geological catastrophes: For example earthquake, tsunami waves and volcanic eruptions.
