What is a negative regulator? What is serving as a negative regulator in the RAAS pathway?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Ans:- negative regulator is protein or bio molecule, which when present in cell reduce expression of specific gene. as its present suppress expression of gene and ultimately production of that molecule belong to that gene it is called negative regulator. in renin angiotensin aldosterone system (RAAS) vitamin D act as a negative regulator. as its presence inhibit promotor region of renin gene and subsequently production of renin. in absence if renin angiotensinogen would not get converted to angiotensin I and hence block whole RAAS pathway.
