The ends of linear chromosomes is called the telomeres that protects the genes from getting deleted as cells continue to divide the telomerase enzyme attached to the end of the chromosome which is complementary to the bases to the RNA template are added on the 3' end of the DNA strand. So Once the lagging strand is elongated by telomerase the DNA polymerase can add the complementary nucleotides to the end of the chromosome and telomere can be finally replicated.
