How many capillary beds would a molecule of CO2 found in the arteriole of the left toe travel through before exhaled from the body

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Answer:- two capillary bed.

Explanation :- A molecule in arterioles of the left toe will move to capillary bed present in toe.

Capillary bed in toe acts as a site for exchange (O2 diffuse to tissue and CO2 diffuse back to blood) with tissues surrounding to it .

Capillary bed lead back to venules (small blood vessels) that flow blood into larger vein (such as inferior vena cava) eventually back to the heart.

From heart this deoxygenated blood (containing CO2 molecule) carry through pulmonary artery which lead to the capillary bed in lungs for exchange with alveoli (O2 is taken in from atmospheric air and CO2 is exhaled to atmosphere).

Continue to draw citric acid cycle intermediates up until a 14C-labeled CO2 molecule is generated by the cycle. How many turns of the citric acid cycle must be made before 14CO2 is released? Which enzymatic reaction in the citric acid cycle first catalyzes the release of 14CO2? The 14C-labled CO2 molecule is from the orginal Carbon #2 carbon on the frutose molecule.

Determine how many molecules of glucose is needed for 1 molecule of palmitate (C16). Assume that all NADPH consumed in this process is also produced from glucose using the pentose phosphate pathway in which all glucose 6-phosphate entering the PPP is converted to CO2, , H2O, and NADPH (no ribose 5-phosphate is formed). Required ATP should also be synthesized from glucose.
