1) a. In a patient was laying in the prone position we would be examining the posterior parts of the body. Here the patient is lying on his chest, with the back. It is used with a prefix DORSAL.
b. In the supine position, the patient wil be lying on his back. We would be examining his anterior ( chest up) parts of his body. This is used with a prefix of VENTRAL.
c. Contralateral view means view of opposite side of the body. So when we are asked for a contralateral view of right foot, it means that we need an X-ray of left foot.
d. The contralateral view can be seen in the sagittal plane of the body.
e. To look at a cross-section of the abdomen, we need a TRANSVERSE SECTION of the abdomen. This plane passes perpendicular to the body axis.
