give detail answer
what is the eukaryotic equivalent of EF-TU?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

During protein synthesis (translation), Elongation of a polypeptide chain requires 3 elongation factors (EF-Tu, EF-Ts, & EF-G) in prokaryotes, while 4 factors, (EF-1a, EF-1b, EF-1g & EF-2) in eukaryotes. These factors recycle the transport of aminoacyl-transfer RNA molecules to the A site of the ribosome and translocate the ribosome forward by one codon after the amide linkage formation. Thus, elongation factors share high similarities in prokaryotes and eukaryotes.

EF-Tu is equivalent to EF-1a.

Which statements regarding translation are correct? (There may be more than one answer). EF-Tu moves the mRNA by one codon EF-G delivers aa-tRNAs to the ribosome Translation initiation occurs by 70S riboosomes binding to mRNAs with fMet-tRNA Translocation refers to the chemical step of peptide bond formation RRF functions to cleave off the peptide chain from the P-site tRNA IF3 is released after the 30S subunit binds mRNA and the fMet-tRNA sits in the P-site; this allows the 50S subunit...

EF-Tu, a member of the G-protein family, plays a crucial role in the elongation process of translation. Suppose that a slowly hydrolyzable analog of GTP was added to an elongating system. What would be the effect on the rate of protein synthesis?
