Explain the benefit, at the cellular level, of producing ATP aerobically. After strenuous activity, one may feel a burning sensation in some muscles. What is responsible for the sensation?

ATP production aerobically provides energy for the general metabolism of the body as well as it helps in the prevention of formation of free oxygen radicals.

Usually body produces ATP sing oxygen. However, during strenuous exercise, body would not have enough oxygen. In this condition, ATP is produced anaerobically. This leads to the formaarion of lactic acid in muscles, which causes muscle soreness or burning sensation in muscles after exercise.

Lactic acid is the by-product of the process, which creates energy more quickly than it normally does.
