which of the following component would you except to find in any type of living organism

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Cells which forms the structural and functional unit of all living organisms is the basic component of all living things. The presence of cell like structure is important for considering an object as living and that is why Viruses are not considered living organism inspite of having a genetic material like living oganisms, because they are not made of cells and lack proper cell like structure. To make new viruses, they have to invade and hijack the reproductive mechanism of a living cell; only then can they obtain the materials they need to reproduce.

Living organisms may contain a single cell or multiple cells but they must have cell, hence cell is the component expected to be found in any type of living organism.

The loudest sound produced by a living organism on Earth is made by the bowhead whale (Balaena mysticetus). These whales can produce a sound that, if heard in air at a distance of 3.50 m , would have an intensity level of 157 dB . This is roughly the equivalent of 5000 trumpeting elephants. Question: How far away can you be from a 157 dB sound and still just barely hear it?(Assume a point source, and ignore reflections and absorption.)
