Answer #1

b.lizard presence affected spider survival in the short term.

In the short term area of the island didn't affected the spider growth. Their growth was similar in small and large islands. But in the long term spiders almost died off in islands that were small although there was no predator there. The population in the large islands with no predator increased significantly. The islands which had predator in them the spider population never grew larger than the initial level. Therefore they estimated that land area as well as presence of predator was important for an invasive species to grow.
