Electrophoresis is used mainly for the seperation of molecules which are charged and move from one direction to other when we apply electricity to it.

Electrophoresis is used to determine the confirmation of DNA and the RNA with the help of presence of bands.

By using different kinds of gel like page and agarose it seperates the bands according to molecular weight whether it is a protein,DNA or RNA.

This is majorly used in RFLP method where the fragments seperate according to sizes. It is used in determining pcr product also.

In southern blotting electrophoresis is used.And for many cloning methods electrophoresis is used.
