Transcription of eukarayotic mRNAs can be repressed either by protein repressors or RNA. Why would the production and maintenance of RNA repressors use less energy than protein repressors?
Ans:- The production and maintenance of RNA Repressor take less energy than protein synthesis because if you see the protein synthesis in the cells, it comes out at the cost of High energy. During a protein synthesis charging of t RNA to amino acyl tRNA need ATP, further to bring the charged charged tRNA it need GTP and for translocation of ribosome need GTP. Overall the energy expenditure for protein production is pretty high. So, for protein Repressor to act, protein Repressor is produced via translation. In contrast transcrption need less energy. Thus, the cells uses RNA Repressor to act and Repressor the RNA rather than protein Repressor.
