Some organisms do not undergo aerobic cellular respiration but undergo anaerobic cellular respiration. What are the disadvantages of anaerobic respiration if any?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We can take mascule as a good example of Anarobic respiration. its has advantages and disadvantages, here i am giving some disadvantages due to the anaerobic respiration.

1) Less energy is produced in the anaerobic respration and produces the lactic acid, most of the lactic acid is absorbed by the liver, but some of the lactic acid remains in the muscle it causes muscle fatuige. Liver and muscle converts the lactic acid to pyruvic acid in order to do that ,a lot of oxygen the body is now taking in does the conversion insted of being used elsewhere this is know as 'Repaying the debt'

2) Too much of anaerobic respiration causes the muscle pain cramping

3) It does not produce a endurance energy.

4) Metabolisam rates increases for calorie burning but not for fat burning

The equations below depict aerobic respiration (oxygen present) of a sugar in the human body & anaerobic respiration (without oxygen present) of a sugar in the human body. Which of the following statements is true about these reactions? Aerobic cellular respiration of a sugar: C6H12O6 + 6O2 → 6CO2 + 6H2O Anaerobic cellular respiration of a sugar: C6H12O6 → 2C2H5OH + 2CO2 Aerobic cellular respiration of a sugar is a combustion reaction while anaerobic cellular respiration of a sugar is...

Some explanations of glycolysis, lactic acid fermentation and aerobic cellular respiration seem to indicate that your cells SWITCH between the two options to finish glycolysis: lactic acid fermentation OR cellular respiration. This is not the case! Your cells do not choose EITHER lactic acid fermentation OR aerobic cellular respiration. What is the necessary item for glycolysis to continue to aerobic cellular respiration instead of lactic acid fermentation? Unless you are dead (no respiration, no blood circulation), are your muscle cells...

Therefore, a better explanation might be: “If a cell is only getting 75% as much O2 as it needs to make enough ATP through aerobic cellular respiration, then (what %?) of...
