The advantage is that, Stem cells offer a viable source of replacement cells to treat diseases and can potentially reduce the morbidity and mortality for those awaiting transplants. The disadvantages are that, they cannot be grown for long periods of time in culture and only a very small number is used in each tissue,making them difficult to find and purify.

Differentiated cell products are used for controlled differntiation of the stem cells. The unusual factor about the tumor is that the tumor contains all the different tissue types embryonic stem cells can become.
