The main purpose of a laboratory is to implement the theories that have been learnt in the class, such that the phenomenon could be observed in reality. This could also be referred to as practical’s. Practical’s imply that whatever concepts one has learnt in class as theory, for example ELISA or enzyme kinetics, the same would be carried out in the lab such that the students realise the working of the theories, and have a scope of experimenting with the same. A lab also helps in expanding the critical thinking abilities of the student.
